After upgrading to Windows 10, Build 1709, we began to have users inform us that they couldn't send snips via Outlook 2016 when using Microsoft's Snipping Tool. We searched around a while and found this to be a reliable fix.
- Click Start, and then click Run.
- In the Open box, type regedit, and then press ENTER.
- In Registry Editor, locate the following subkey in the registry: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Clients\Mail\Microsoft Outlook
- Select the subkey, create a backup (export), and then press DELETE.
- Click Yes.
- Quit Registry Editor.
- Go to control panel – programs and features
- Run repair of the office – the key will be recreated
- Restart the computer.
The whole process takes about 15 minutes but it fixed the issue. It surprised me at how many people in our organization actually use the Snipping Tool and the ability to send a snip! I've always thought that the Snipping Tool was one of the coolest features Microsoft ever added to Windows and apparently others do, too.
