Internet Explorer 9: Platform Demos

by MGD King Wednesday, March 24, 2010 4:49 PM

I’m not sure when Microsoft released the Platform Demos for Internet Explorer 9 but I’ve taken a look and I have to say that I’m impressed! So far their focus seems to be on CSS3 compliance and HTML5 standards which is a good thing!  They are also working on how IE9 renders Java, which has always been a complaint of mine with IE.

As impressed as I was when I tested IE8, I’m really impressed with the overall clarity of images and sharpness of text. I can’t wait for the beta for IE9 to be released because I think I’m going to have to give it a try!

Go check out the Platform Demos and see what you think! I’m interested to know what everyone else thinks about it and I’ll be keeping my eyes on the development process. As early as it is in the development process, I can’t even imagine when there will be a release date for IE9. And just so everyone knows, this isn't the beta release! Yes, you can surf to different sites, but it's mostly a demo of how it currently operates.

UPDATE: Microsoft says that Internet Explorer 9 will not work on Windows XP according to NeoSeeker.

Windows 7 Release Date Announced

by MGD King Wednesday, June 3, 2009 8:00 AM

According to The Windows 7 Team Blog, Microsoft will release Windows 7 on October 22, 2009 just in time for the holiday season. There will be six versions of Windows 7; Starter Edition, Home Premium, Professional, Enterprise, Ultimate, and Home Basic. The price for each version hasn’t been released.

After working with the beta version and now with the RC, I’m looking forward to this release. I’ve been using XP because of all of the horror stories associated with Vista when it was released and I really like the way that 7 (or as some put it Vista RC2) manages memory, especially when you have multiple applications running. BlogEngine.net 1.5 Officially Released

by MGD King Wednesday, April 15, 2009 8:17 PM

The latest release of BlogEngine.net  was officially released yesterday after spending a week or so in Release Candidate state and it’s version 1.5. There’s a couple of great new items like nested comments, improved Metaweblog API which works great with Windows Live Writer as well as some performance tune-ups. Is it worth upgrading from 1.4.5? You bet! You should do it now as a matter of fact!

However, the official release (build 1.5.07), even after spending time as a RC, had a few minor problems, none of which are deal breakers in my opinion. More...

Who Is MGD King?

MGD KingA lot of people ask me what does MGD King mean? Well, it was a nickname given to me because I used to drink large quantities of Miller Genuine Draft. Someone mentioned to me that I was the King of MGD, and so it stuck.
